On March 24, 2026, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Vi, Vice Secretary General and Head of Trade Promotion of the Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA), participated as a guest speaker at the “8th Asia Functional and Technical Textile Symposium 2026 (FUTEX 2026)”, organized by Green Link Group (Hong Kong) in Ho Chi Minh City.
FUTEX 2026 is a reputable industry platform focusing on technical textiles and functional materials, bringing together over 120 leading enterprises and experts from Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, India, Europe, and the United States. The symposium serves as a forum to exchange insights on technological advancements, material innovation, and sustainable development trends in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.
At the event, the VCOSA representative delivered a presentation titled “An Overview of Vietnam’s Textile & Apparel Industry and the Growing Demand for Sustainable Fiber.” The presentation provided a comprehensive outlook on Vietnam’s textile and apparel sector, highlighting the increasing shift toward environmentally friendly fibers driven by global sustainability requirements and supply chain transparency.
Over the two-day program, participants engaged in a wide range of discussions covering key topics such as the industry outlook toward 2030, the development of the functional and technical textile market, emission reduction strategies, fiber innovation, recycled material applications, digital transformation in supply chains, and performance enhancement in textile products.
Notably, strong emphasis was placed on circular economy practices, environmental management (including air emissions and wastewater), and the advancement of bio-based and recycled fibers—critical factors shaping the future of the global textile industry.
VCOSA’s participation in FUTEX 2026 reaffirms its proactive role in engaging with international platforms, staying updated on technological trends, and promoting sustainable development within Vietnam’s cotton and textile sector.
On the sidelines of the symposium, the VCOSA representative held discussions with Green Link Group (Hong Kong) regarding the potential collaboration in organizing similar specialized programs and conferences in Vietnam in the near future. The discussions focused on developing dedicated industry platforms for cotton, fibers, yarns, and textiles, aiming to strengthen business connectivity, enhance technology exchange, and promote sustainable development across the domestic supply chain.
