The three-day Advanced Cotton Trading Practices 2026 training programme officially concluded on 6 August 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together cotton industry professionals and business representatives for intensive learning, professional exchange and international networking.
Jointly developed by the International Cotton Association (ICA) and the Vietnam Cotton & Spinning Association (VCOSA), the programme was designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the international frameworks, commercial practices and risk management principles underpinning global cotton trading.

International Expertise Meets Practical Industry Experience
Throughout the three-day programme, participants had the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals representing leading organisations across the global cotton industry.
The programme featured:
– Mr. Pierre Chehab, ICA President and Head of Cotton for Europe at Louis Dreyfus Company;
– Dr. Robert Jiang, Business Operations & Development Manager at the International Cotton Association (ICA);
– Mr. Robin Pigot, Global Trading & Merchandising Manager at Cargill Cotton; and
– Mr. David Wookey, Cotton Expert at CAM Négoce.
The training covered a broad range of topics essential to international cotton trading, including the role of ICA in the global cotton industry, ICA Bylaws, Rules & Contracts, cotton quality and the role of cotton merchants, global cotton market insights, accumulative pricing, risk management, dispute resolution, Futures & Options, and practical case studies based on real trading scenarios.
Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, the programme encouraged active discussion and interaction between speakers and participants, allowing learners to connect international trading principles with practical challenges encountered in day-to-day business.
A Focus on Practical Knowledge and Risk Management
One of the key strengths of Advanced Cotton Trading Practices 2026 was its emphasis on practical decision-making in cotton trading.
Through discussions, case studies and direct exchanges with international experts, participants gained a broader perspective on managing contractual obligations, price exposure, quality considerations and other commercial risks throughout the cotton trading process.
The programme also provided an opportunity for participants from different companies and areas of the industry to exchange experiences and strengthen professional connections within Vietnam’s cotton and textile community.
Certificate Presentation Ceremony
The programme concluded with a final assessment and Certificate Presentation Ceremony.
Participants who successfully completed the training were awarded Certificates of Completion issued by the International Cotton Association (ICA), formally recognising their participation in and completion of the specialised training programme.
The certificates represent not only the completion of three days of intensive learning, but also the participants’ commitment to strengthening their professional knowledge and keeping pace with internationally recognised practices in cotton trading.
The closing ceremony provided a meaningful conclusion to the programme, bringing together speakers, participants, organisers and supporting partners to celebrate the achievements of the training.
