
On the afternoon of January 9, 2025, in Thua Thien Hue Province, the 2024 Year-End Review Meeting of the Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA) was successfully held. The event gathered numerous VCOSA members, partners, sponsors, and businesses in the textile supply chain from both domestic and international markets.
Held at Phu Bai Industrial Park, Huong Thuy Town, Thua Thien Hue, the meeting provided a comprehensive review of VCOSA’s activities and Vietnam’s spinning industry in 2024. It also shared visions and strategies for 2025 while fostering extensive networking opportunities among VCOSA members and stakeholders.
The meeting featured the presence of Mr. Nguyen An Toan – Chairman of VCOSA, Mrs. Can Thi Hieu – Vice Chairman of VCOSA, Mr. Vo Manh Hung and Mr. Kieu Manh Kha – representatives of Cotton Council International (CCI) in Vietnam, and two distinguished speakers from Decathlon Vietnam and Control Union Vietnam. Additionally, representatives from leading companies such as Vinatex Phu Hung Joint Stock Company, Phu An Spinning Joint Stock Company, Tri Dung Transport Joint Stock Company, Phu Bai Spinning Mill Joint Stock Company, Huong Sen Comfor Yarn Spinning Co., Ltd., and others attended the event.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen An Toan highlighted that 2024 had been a year of challenges for Vietnam’s spinning industry, marked by market fluctuations and numerous difficulties for businesses. However, starting mid-2024, the sector saw promising signs of recovery. For the first 11 months of 2024, total imports of cotton, fibers, fabrics, and auxiliary materials reached USD 25.19 billion, up 14.9% year-over-year. The total export turnover of the textile industry reached USD 40.42 billion, an increase of 9.8% compared to the same period in 2023, signaling stable recovery trends.

Mr. Nguyen An Toan also addressed critical issues, including challenges in importing raw combed cotton, damages caused by Super Typhoon Yagi, and increasing tariff pressures from major markets. He emphasized the association’s commitment to guiding and supporting the industry towards stable and sustainable development.

Representing the primary sponsor of the event, Mr. Vo Manh Hung and Mr. Kieu Manh Kha from CCI spoke about CCI’s core services and plans for 2025, aiming to strengthen Vietnam-U.S. partnerships in the cotton supply chain. They highlighted the vital role of U.S. cotton in Vietnam’s textile industry.

Following these valuable presentations, Mr. Nguyen An Toan expressed his gratitude to the speakers on behalf of VCOSA and presented them with tokens of appreciation. Attendees also participated in a comprehensive review of VCOSA’s 2024 activities presented by Ms. Nguyen Thuy Vi, Vice Secretary General and Head of Trade Promotion at VCOSA. She also outlined the preliminary agenda for VCOSA’s 4th Term General Assembly, scheduled for late 2025.
The meeting concluded with a roundtable discussion moderated by Mr. Nguyen An Toan, followed by a closing speech where he extended gratitude to sponsors, attendees, and participating businesses. The event wrapped up with a networking dinner, providing further opportunities for collaboration among members and stakeholders.
