• Hãng thời trang khổng lồ H&M của Thụy Điển thông báo rằng từ tháng 11/2023 họ dần mở lại một phần đáng kể các cửa hàng của mình tại Ukraine. Quyết định này được đưa ra sau khi các cửa hàng tạm thời đóng cửa từ ngày 24/02/2022 do xung đột quân sự Nga-Ukraine khiến tình hình chính trị căng thẳng. Trước đó H&M có 9 cửa hàng tại Ukraine.
• Esprit, nhãn hiệu thời trang toàn cầu niêm yết tại Hồng Kông, đã báo cáo khoản lỗ 91 triệu USD trong nửa đầu niên độ.
• Ngành sản xuất hàng may mặc của Myanmar đang phải đối mặt với nhiều thách thức khi nhiều thương hiệu và nhà bán lẻ lớn ngừng tìm kiếm nguồn cung từ nước này vì lo ngại về vi phạm nhân quyền.
• Sản lượng bông từ khu tự trị Duy Ngô Nhĩ Tân Cương của Trung Quốc dự kiến sẽ giảm 11% vào năm 2023 so với năm 2022, xuống còn 5,57 triệu tấn. Trung Quốc ngày càng chú trọng đến chất lượng bông hơn số lượng, đồng thời phân bổ đất để trồng các loại cây trồng khác nhằm đảm bảo an ninh lương thực.
• Tiêu thụ sợi trong ngành may mặc của Bangladesh đã giảm mạnh trong nửa cuối niên độ 2022-23, mặc dù nước này ghi nhận kim ngạch từ xuất khẩu hàng may sẵn tăng. Các nhà máy dệt và nhà sản xuất hàng may mặc cho biết họ đang nhận được ít đơn đặt hàng hơn công suất do cuộc khủng hoảng kinh tế toàn cầu, hiệu ứng lan tỏa của cuộc chiến tranh Nga-Ukraine đang diễn ra. Chiến lược này đã giúp Bangladesh tăng kim ngạch xuất khẩu hàng may mặc.

• Swedish Fashion giant H&M announced that it will gradually reopen a significant portion of its stores in Ukraine from November 2023. The decision follows the temporary closure of these stores due to Russia’s invasion of the country on 24th February 2021. It had nine stores in Ukraine back then which were reportedly shut, giving in to the geopolitical tensions.
• Esprit, the Hong Kong-listed global fashion label, has reported a loss attributable to shareholders of US $ 91 million in the first half of the financial year.
• Myanmar’s apparel manufacturing industry is facing challenges as major brands and retailers are stopping sourcing from the country due to human rights violations.
• Cotton output from China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is expected to fall by 11 per cent in 2023 from last year to 5.57 million tonnes. China is increasingly placing an emphasis on cotton quality over quantity, while also creating room for crops amid food security concerns.
• Yarn consumption in Bangladesh’s apparel industry fell sharply in the last half of FY2022-23, despite the country recording an increase in earnings from readymade garment exports. Textile millers and apparel manufacturers said they are receiving fewer orders than capacity due to the ongoing global economic crisis, a ripple effect of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. This is why the demand for yarn has declined in the RMG sector. Explaining why Bangladesh managed to boost earnings despite a low orders, sources at the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) said many factories are producing high value clothing items, which is effectively helping the country earn more.
