Giá sợi cotton vẫn ổn định ở miền nam Ấn Độ
Do nhu cầu giảm và sức mua trung bình, giá sợi cotton ở nam Ấn Độ ổn định. Các thương nhân ở Tiruppur và Mumbai lưu ý rằng nhu cầu đã suy yếu và giá sợi cotton không có biến động. Thị trường dự kiến sẽ duy trì trong phạm vi giới hạn và các nhà máy kéo sợi Tamil Nadu sẽ điều chỉnh lại giá trong tháng tới.
Tại Mumbai, nhu cầu giảm sút, một thương nhân cho biết: “Giá vải cotton tăng gần đây đã làm giảm nhu cầu trong ngành may mặc, các doanh nghiệp đang mua với số lượng nhỏ nhất để đáp ứng nhu cầu sản xuất tức thời vì họ mong đợi giá sẽ thấp hơn.”
Tương tự, thị trường ở Tiruppur cũng ghi nhận sự ổn định về giá, sức mua xuất khẩu được cải thiện, nhưng nhu cầu từ các ngành công nghiệp hạ nguồn vẫn yếu. Các thương nhân cho biết hoạt động mua sợi cotton gần đây đã giảm bớt, nhưng tình hình đã tốt hơn so với tháng trước.
Các nguồn tin thương mại ở Gujarat lưu ý rằng thị trường không chịu bất kỳ áp lực nào và bông đã được bán ở mức gần như trước đó. Việc mua tích cực từ các nhà xuất khẩu và các công ty sản xuất lớn đã hấp thụ lượng hàng bông cao hơn. Tại Ấn Độ, lượng hàng bông được ước tính vào khoảng 160.000 kiện, loại 170 kg trong khi thị trường Gujarat ghi nhận lượng hàng đến là 40.000 kiện.

Nông dân trồng bông ở Texas bước vào mùa trồng trọt tiếp theo với tâm trạng lo lắng – chỉ một năm sau khi tiểu bang này bước vào mùa trồng trọt với diện tích trồng cao nhất kể từ năm 1954 – với dự định trồng ít hơn vào mùa xuân này khi hiện tượng La Niña được dự đoán là sẽ kết thúc.
Hiện tại, giá trị của hàng hóa thấp hơn đáng kể so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái – với giá kỳ hạn trung bình giảm 1,22 USD/pound xuống 84,9 cent/pound so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái – trong khi lạm phát tiếp tục tác động đến giá cả đầu vào với chi phí nhiên liệu và phân bón cao, mặc dù các chi phí này đã giảm nhẹ so với năm ngoái.

Prices of cotton yarn remain steady in south India
Due to ease in demand and average buying, prices of cotton yarn in south India have remained steady. Traders in Tiruppur and Mumbai noted that demand has weakened and that there has been no movement in the prices of cotton yarn. The market is expected to remain range-bound and spinners based in Tamil Nadu will review the prices for next month.
Weaker demand has been noted in Mumbai with a trader being quoted as saying, “The recent rise in cotton fabrics has led to lower demand from the garment industry, and buyers are turning to hand-to-mouth purchases as they expect prices to decrease.”
In a similar fashion, the market in Tiruppur has noted the stability in prices, with buying for exports being better but demand from the downstream industry remaining weak. Cotton yarn buying has eased recently, said trade sources, but the situation is better than last month.
Trade sources in Gujarat noted that the market is not suffering under any pressure and that the cotton has been sold at near-previous levels. Aggressive buying from exporters and large manufacturing companies have absorbed higher arrivals of cotton. In India, cotton arrival was estimated to be around 1.6 lakh bales of 170 kg while the Gujarat market noted an arrival of 40,000 bales.
After a rough year for cotton, Texas farmers approach the new season with caution
Texas cotton farmers will approach the upcoming planting season with trepidation — just a year after the state headed into the growing season with its highest planted area since 1954 — with intentions to plant less this spring as La Niña makes her much-awaited departure.
Right now, the commodity’s value sits significantly lower from where it was this time last year — with average futures prices decreasing from $1.22 per pound to 84.9 cents per pound, year over year — while inflation continues to impact input prices with high fuel and fertilizer costs, though they have fallen slightly since last year.
In December, the National Cotton Council mailed a survey asking producers for the number of acres they planned for cotton this coming season. Based on the responses, Texas’ planted acreage is forecast to decline by more than 21 percent, one of the largest decreases expected among the 17 cotton-producing states.
Global production, however, is expected remain steady as Brazil, China and India bring more to the table.
