From November 18–20, the Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA) collaborated with ABRAPA (Brazilian Cotton Growers Association), ANEA (Brazilian Cotton Shippers Association), and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) to successfully organize the Cotton Brazil Outlook 2024 event in three cities: Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The event coincided with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil, 17 years of their Comprehensive Partnership, and the recent elevation of their relationship to Strategic Partnership. Brazil is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Latin America and the second-largest in the Americas. Vietnam, in turn, is Brazil’s leading partner in ASEAN. Notably, Brazil is Vietnam’s largest cotton supplier, with 216,767 tons worth USD 443.1 million imported in the first five months of this year, a 159% increase in volume and 112% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023.
The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Marco Farani, Ambassador of Brazil to Vietnam; Mr. Alexandre Pedro Schenkel, Chairman of ABRAPA; Mr. Miguel Faus, Chairman of ANEA; Mr. Nguyen An Toan, Chairman of VCOSA; Mr. Trinh Tan Hoang, Vice Chairman of VCOSA; senior leaders from the Brazilian cotton industry from ABRAPA, ANEA, and ApexBrasil; distinguished guests; representatives from the global cotton-textile supply chain; and Vietnamese spinning enterprises.
