On the afternoon of July 18, 2024, at the Merperle Crystal Palace Hotel (Ho Chi Minh City), “Lenzing Talks Vol.1: Redefining Textiles: Lenzing’s Innovations in Sustainable Fibers” was successfully held by the Vietnam Cotton & Spinning Association & Lenzing Group.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen An Toan – Chairman of VCOSA shared: The Vietnamese textile and garment industry is facing many challenges in the context of increasingly fierce global competition, especially from large competitors such as Bangladesh, India and China. However, the trend of diversifying the global supply chain is also opening up new opportunities for Vietnam. To seize this opportunity, Vietnamese enterprises need to enhance their capacity and develop the domestic supporting industries, while flexibly shifting to mixed yarn and recycled yarn products. Sharing the same vision and goal of building the Vietnamese cotton-fiber-yarn industry towards sustainable development and the new directions mentioned above, VCOSA is joining hands with Lenzing to organize “Lenzing Talks Vol.1: Redefining Textiles: Lenzing’s Innovations in Sustainable Fibers”.

Joining VCOSA in 2023, Lenzing is a multinational company specializing in cellulose fibers with over 80 years of market experience, and a partner of many leading global fashion and textile brands. Within the framework of the workshop, the Lenzing representative shared with VCOSA members and related businesses the knowledge and experience of Lenzing in the development of sustainable fibers, introduced the brand’s distinctive products, and promoted direct exchange and learning between enterprises through the 1:1 networking and discussion session at the end of the program.

The representatives of the participating companies stated that the content shared by Lenzing in “Lenzing Talks Vol.1: Redefining Textiles: Lenzing’s Innovations in Sustainable Fibers” was truly of high quality, useful and practical for the enterprises and the Vietnamese fiber, textile and garment industry as a whole. This is particularly relevant as Vietnamese companies are having to flexibly shift to blended and recycled fibers, which are not their traditional strengths, to find new directions in niche markets alongside traditional cotton.
