Cotton fiber prices are now recovering in India over a strong demand from China. Cotton yarn prices have not yet bottomed out, however. Viscose fiber and yarn prices are everywhere declining over excess inventories in China.
Cotton fiber and yarn prices are moving into different directions.
In China, cotton fiber prices are slightly rising but yarn prices are no more moving, in line with surging competition from imports.
In India, cotton fiber prices are now clearly rebounding after falling for months.
Cotton prices are supported by state buying and surging demand from China.
Beijing will continue imposing 25% additional tariffs on US cotton until the end of trade negotiations with Washington, therefore favoring Indian cotton exports.
Cotton yarn prices are far from rebounding in India, where they have however stabilized.
On the polyester market, fiber prices have stopped rising in China.
Spun polyester prices have been raised but will no more increase in the coming days.
Fiber and yarn prices are frozen in India and Pakistan, in local currency terms.
On the viscose market, prices are clearly dropping, due to excess inventories in China.
Yarn prices should continue declining in the coming period.
