Pakistan Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets

Cotton yarn prices have suddenly risen in Pakistan, over a rebound of demand from domestic processors. Cotton and polyester prices have stayed very firm whereas viscose fiber and yarn prices are falling.

From Pakistan Correspondent Ahmed Fayz

The cotton yarn prices have suddenly risen on the domestic market in Pakistan, over a rebound in demand from the textile producers.

Benchmark 20s carded has risen Rs.30 (or 1.84%) per bundle of 10 lb. in the last seven days on the Faisalabad yarn market.

Business activities have sharply recovered in Pakistan, after remaining very weak in the previous period.

The yarn producers have therefore raised their price offers.

Cotton prices staying very firm

As a result, cotton fiber prices have stayed very firm, with the benchmark KCA spot indicator gaining Rs.100 per maund over the last seven days.

The yarn prices have however remained unchanged on the export markets, due to a lack of interest from the foreign customers.

The slowdown may be due to the uncertainties over the US-China trade negotiations, and any agreement between the two countries could therefore trigger a sudden rise in demand and prices.

With Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) staying unchanged in Pakistan, PC and PV yarns have also begun stabilizing on the domestic markets.

Blended yarns had previously benefited from a strong demand from the home textile makers needing to replenish their stocks.

30s PC for instance has surged 3.61% in past four weeks on the Faisalabad market.

Polyester remains also unchanged

PSF prices have continued remaining very stable, with benchmark 1.4 denier fiber staying stuck at Rs.193 per kilo, although import offers from China have very slightly dropped over the past couple of weeks.

The spun yarn prices have also not moved, as a result.

Margins have however slightly dropped at polyester plants, after a new rise of PTA and MEG prices on the international market.

Viscose staple fiber prices have begun sliding in Pakistan in line with a sudden fall of import offers from the foreign suppliers.

Spun yarns should follow the same trend in the coming days.
