Pakistan Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets

Yarn prices have stayed relatively stable in the past seven days on the domestic market in Pakistan whatever military incidents with India. Cotton yarn export prices have however begun dropping in the meantime.

– From our Pakistan Correspondent Ahmed Fayz

Cotton yarn prices have not moved in the last seven days in Pakistan, although demand has very slightly recovered on the Faisalabad and Karachi yarn markets.

Textile producers have begun showing buying interest, after a relatively slower market activity in the past period.

Benchmark 30s carded has remained unchanged at Rs.1,815 per bundle of 10 lb, as a result.

Lower counts of Poly-Cotton (PC) yarns have also begun stabilizing on the Faisalabad and Karachi yarn markets.

Finer counts of PC yarns are still very firm and continue increasing over a rise of demand from the textile makers.

30s PV has also gained Rs.1 per lb whereas 20s and 40s PV have remained unchanged in the last seven days.

Dropping export prices

Cotton yarn prices have however begun sliding on Pakistan’s export market over a lack of demand from the Chinese customers in the last few weeks.

The benchmark 20s carded cotton has lost 3 US cents per kilo in the last seven days.

Polyester staple fiber (PSF) prices have remained frozen in the past weekly period in Pakistan.

Benchmark 1.4 denier fiber has been stuck at Rs.193 per kilo for the last five weeks, due to very stable import offers from the Chinese suppliers.

Margins of the domestic polyester producers have stayed at the highest level, whatever the new recovery of MEG prices in the last seven days.

Viscose prices again rising

A higher level of demand from the yarn producers should continue supporting the polyester prices in Pakistan.

Polyester spun yarns have also not moved in line with very stable PSF prices in the country.

Viscose staple fiber prices have however begun very slightly rising, possibly due to panic buying triggered by incidents occurring with India.

Similarly, viscose spun yarns have also increased in the last seven days.
