Sản lượng bông toàn cầu tăng nhẹ lên 113,5 triệu kiện: USDA
Sản lượng bông toàn cầu tăng nhẹ và hiện đạt tổng cộng 113,5 triệu kiện, theo Báo cáo Triển vọng Bông 2023-24 của Bộ Nông nghiệp Mỹ (USDA). Nguyên nhân chính của sự gia tăng này là do sản lượng bông cao hơn ở Afghanistan, Argentina, Mỹ và Paraguay, bù đắp cho sản lượng giảm ở Tây Ban Nha và Mexico.
Đáng chú ý, sản lượng của Afghanistan dự kiến sẽ đạt mức kỷ lục, trong khi sản lượng của Argentina dự kiến sẽ đạt mức cao nhất trong một thập kỷ.
Ngược lại, tiêu thụ bông toàn cầu dự kiến sẽ giảm 0,5 triệu kiện, nâng tổng sản lượng lên 115,3 triệu kiện. Lượng tiêu thụ giảm là do lượng tiêu thụ giảm ở các thị trường bông lớn gồm Mỹ, Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ và Việt Nam. Báo cáo cho biết xu hướng này phần lớn là do hoạt động giao dịch yếu hơn dự kiến trong quý đầu tiên của niên vụ.
Thương mại bông toàn cầu về cơ bản vẫn ổn định ở mức 43,3 triệu kiện. Tuy nhiên, bên trong sự ổn định này cũng đã có những thay đổi đáng kể. Nhập khẩu cao hơn từ Trung Quốc bù đắp cho nhập khẩu thấp hơn từ Việt Nam và Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ.
Tồn kho bông cuối kỳ trên toàn cầu đã tăng đáng kể và hiện ước tính đạt 81,5 triệu kiện. Mức tăng 1,6 triệu kiện chủ yếu là do dự trữ của chính phủ Trung Quốc dự kiến tăng, sản lượng tại Mỹ tăng và xuất khẩu từ Ấn Độ giảm.
Tại Mỹ, giá trung bình trong vụ bông 2023/24 dự kiến sẽ giảm 3 cent xuống mức 77 cent mỗi pound.

Global cotton production has seen a marginal increase, now totalling 113.5 million bales, according to the 2023-24 outlook of US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Cotton: World Markets and Trade report. This increase is primarily due to higher yields in Afghanistan, Argentina, the United States, and Paraguay, which have more than compensated for the reduced crops in Spain and Mexico.
Notably, Afghanistan is set to achieve a record-level production, while Argentina is expected to have its highest yield in ten years.
In a contrasting development, global cotton consumption is projected to decrease by 500,000 bales, bringing the total to 115.3 million bales. This reduction in consumption is attributed to lower usage in key cotton markets, including the United States, Turkey, and Vietnam. This trend is largely due to weaker-than-anticipated trade activity in the first quarter of the marketing year, as per the report.
Global trade in cotton remains mostly stable, maintaining at 43.3 million bales. However, there have been significant shifts within this steadiness. China’s increase in imports has balanced out the reduced volumes destined for Vietnam and Turkey.
There is a notable increase in global ending stocks of cotton, now estimated at 81.5 million bales. This rise of 1.6 million bales is primarily due to an anticipated increase in China’s government reserves, higher production in the U.S., and a decrease in exports from India.
In the United States, the season-average farm price for the 2023/24 cotton crop is forecasted to decline slightly by 3 cents, settling at 77 cents per pound.
