Hanoi, December 17, 2025 – At a time when the global textile and apparel industry is undergoing a profound transformation toward sustainability and higher value creation, Lyocell Customer Day 2025 was successfully held in Hanoi. The event was jointly organised by The Lyocell Company (TLC) and the Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA).
Marking the first lyocell-focused customer event in Vietnam, the program provided a timely platform for industry dialogue around sustainable fibres, technology adoption, and Vietnam’s long-term competitiveness within global supply chains.
The event brought together Vietnamese manufacturers across the spinning, weaving, dyeing and garment sectors, alongside international experts and industry representatives, fostering both technical knowledge sharing and meaningful business connections.

Opening perspectives: Lyocell and the shift toward higher-value textiles
In the opening remarks, Mr. Bismaya Ranjan Nanda – Head Fibre and Yarn Sales, Vietnam, The Lyocell Company, highlighted the growing role of lyocell as a fibre that combines high technical performance with strong sustainability credentials, making it increasingly relevant for global brands and manufacturers alike.
Representing the industry association, Mr. Nguyen An Toan – Chairman of VCOSA, emphasised that the adoption of next-generation materials such as lyocell is no longer a trend, but a strategic necessity for Vietnam’s textile industry as it moves up the value chain and responds to increasingly stringent sustainability expectations from international buyers.
Vietnam’s textile landscape and the rising demand for lyocell
In her presentation, “An Overview of Vietnam’s Textile & Apparel Industry and the Growing Demand for Lyocell Fibre,”
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Vi – Vice Secretary General and Head of Trade Promotion at VCOSA, provided a comprehensive view of Vietnam’s position in the global textile market.
Vietnam now ranks among the world’s leading textile and garment exporters, underpinned by structural improvements such as stronger domestic value addition, supply-chain consolidation, and growing investments in automation and cleaner production technologies. Against this backdrop, demand for high-performance cellulosic fibres like lyocell is accelerating, particularly in key markets such as the EU, the US and Japan.
Introducing The Lyocell Company: global scale, focused expertise
During the Introduction of The Lyocell Company, TLC representatives outlined the company’s role as a dedicated lyocell brand under Sateri, part of the RGE Group.
With four manufacturing plants in China and an annual production capacity of approximately 400,000 tonnes, TLC is currently the world’s largest lyocell producer, recognised for its scale, reliability and deep fibre expertise. The company operates an integrated closed-loop production system with a solvent recovery rate of up to 99.7%, utilising responsibly managed raw materials and complying with global sustainability certifications.
From fibre to fabric: practical insights into lyocell applications
A series of technical sessions formed the core of the program, including:
- “Applications of Lyocell Fibre in Textile Manufacturing”
- “Processing and Dyeing of Lyocell Fibre”
These sessions offered practical, production-oriented insights into lyocell’s performance across spinning, blending with cotton, fabric formation and dyeing. TLC experts highlighted lyocell’s advantages in terms of fibre strength, smoothness, dye uptake, fabric drape and comfort—demonstrating how the fibre can be effectively integrated into existing manufacturing processes to support higher-quality and more sustainable products.
Connecting the value chain
The program concluded with a “Connect with Us” session followed by a Networking Dinner, providing participants with the opportunity to engage directly with TLC’s technical and commercial teams, as well as peers from across Vietnam’s textile industry.
These exchanges enabled deeper discussions on product development, technical collaboration and future partnership opportunities, reinforcing the event’s role as a catalyst for long-term engagement rather than a one-off knowledge-sharing forum.
Looking ahead
Lyocell Customer Day 2025 went beyond introducing a sustainable fibre—it reflected a broader strategic shift within Vietnam’s textile industry: from cost-driven manufacturing toward quality, innovation and sustainability-led competitiveness.
Through the event, The Lyocell Company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Vietnam’s textile sector with advanced materials, technical expertise and long-term partnership. VCOSA, in turn, will continue to serve as a bridge between international solution providers and Vietnamese enterprises, promoting innovation and helping the industry strengthen its position in global value chains.
